Swelling while long time traveling
Comon problem with a long flight or road trip are swollen ankles, legs, or even face. Reason for swelling: lymphatic flow is slowing down.
Travel cause Lymph Congestion – Swelling because:
- Lymph doesn’t have a heart to pump it. It relies on movement and muscle contraction. Long periods of sitting reduce flow, especially in the legs.
- Lower cabin pressure can cause fluid shifts, making it harder for lymph and blood to circulate.
- Air travel dries you out, and without enough water, lymph fluid thickens and becomes sluggish.
- Tight clothes, for example: belts, socks, or fitted pants can compress lymph nodes and vessels, trapping fluid.

- Ankle pumps and calf raise in your seat help a lot
